Post Getting the Tow in corrected on my lawn tractor.

The first picture, this is how my tow in was since I bought the tractor. I purchased a snow blower for it a couple years ago, the weight of the blower made it hard to steer.

I removed both rods then cut them.

I used a 9/16 die to cut some threads on all four pieces. The rods were a bit thick for the 9/16 but two small for 5/8. Never did try a metric die.

I used a coupling nut, red Loctite on one end and a jam nut on the other. I broke one die too, so I had to buy a second one to finish.

Cannot wait now to try it out.

That was a good idea. Seems on most of the yard tractors now, the front end parts are "remove and replace". I would rather fix it

Nice.

I've got a 1974 JD 112 12 hp Kohler single cylinder, 4 speed manual, triple blade 38" deck that I've been nursing for the last while. It needs an engine, but its done well for cutting the same acre of land for the last 45 years.

I hope all is well with you.

peace
Hog
